Gym Dogs Honored At Banquet

ATHENS-----The Georgia gymnastics team was honored at the team's annual banquet held Saturday at UGA's Tate Student Center. The Gym Dogs advanced to the NCAA Championships for the 27th time in program history in 2011, and Kat Ding claimed the NCAA title on the uneven bars.
Senior Cassidy McComb, who won the SEC all-around title and finished third at the NCAA Championships, was named the overall MVP as well as the MVP on floor exercise. The vault MVP went to Noel Couch, while Ding and Gina Nuccio were co-MVPs on bars, and Hilary Mauro and Shayla Worley shared MVP honors on beam. Couch also won the Coaches' MVP Award.
McComb was also the winner of the Suzanne Yoculan No Dream Too Big Award. The Clutch Performance of the Year Award went to freshman Laura Moffatt, who was a late addition to the beam lineup at the SEC Championship and scored a 9.875. She also shared the Sam Sheehan Spirit Award with McComb.
Worley, who leads the team with a 3.63 GPA, was the recipient of the Scholar-Athlete Award. Junior Mariel Box was awarded the Catalyst Impact Award, and Mauro was named recipient of the Kathy McMinn Consistency Award.
