Gym Dogs Graduate, Earn Academic Honors

ATHENS-----Georgia senior Cassidy McComb was joined by former Gym Dogs Courtney McCool and Grace Taylor Johnson as they participated in UGA's Spring Commencement held Friday at Sanford Stadium.
McComb and McCool earned their degrees in Child & Family Development, while Johnson Taylor graduated with a degree in Health Promotion.
McComb was a four-time All-American at Georgia with three of those honors coming in 2011. The Henderson, Nev., native was the SEC All-Around Champion and finished third at the NCAA Championships. She was also the 2008 SEC Freshman of the Year.
McCool also earned four All-America honors in her Georgia career from 2007-2010 and was the 2008 national champion on floor. A native of Lees Summitt, Mo., McCool was also the 2010 SEC Champion on floor.
Taylor Johnson was the 2008 NCAA and SEC champion on the balance beam as well as the 2008 SEC champion on the uneven bars. She was a five-time NCAA First-Team All-American and a two-time Second-Team All-American. Taylor Johnson and McCool helped lead the Gym Dogs to the NCAA title in 2007, 2008 and 2009.
In addition, all seven of the eligible returning Gym Dogs for the 2012 season were named to the 2010-11 SEC Winter Academic Honor Roll. To be eligible, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.0 grade point average and must have successfully completed 24 semester hours or course work. Georgia's eligible gymnasts were Mariel Box, Kat Ding, Gina Nuccio, Kati Breazeal, Noel Couch, Christa Tanella and Shayla Worley, and all seven were named to the SEC Academic Honor Roll.
