KNOXVILLE, Tenn. --- Senior Cameron Ellis was selected to represent the University of Georgia on the 2011 SEC Championship All-Tournament Tennis Team.
Ellis, currently ranked No. 91 nationally, owns a 28-6 singles record this season including 15-3 in dual match play and 10-2 in the SEC. Ellis is closing in on the school career record for most combined wins. Currently, she has 220, two shy of the mark held by Naoko Ueshima. Earlier this year, Ellis collected her 100th career doubles victory against Mississippi State.
Ellis set an early pace for the Bulldogs in their SEC quarterfinal match against Arkansas when she defeated Jade Frampton in straight-sets 6-2,6-0. Georgia defeated Arkansas 4-0. In Georgia's semifinal match with host Tennessee, Ellis was leading in her singles contest 7-6(6),4-2 when the match was suspended after the Lady Vols clinched 4-1.
Also included on the All-Tournament team were Florida's Allie Will and Olivia Janowicz, Tennessee's Brynn Boren and Maria Sorbello, and Vanderbilt's Alex Leatu. Will earned MVP honors after helping the Gators to a 4-0 victory over Tennessee in the championship match.
Up next, Georgia (16-4) will learn on May 3 if it will be selected as a host for NCAA first and second round action. These will be held on various campus sites from May 13-15, and the final 16 site of the 2011 NCAA Championships will be May 19-30 in Palo Alto, California on the campus of Stanford.
