RIO GRANDE, P.R. --- The No. 10-ranked Georgia women's golf team struggled in the opening round of its spring season on Sunday. The Bulldogs shot a 20-over 308, leaving them tied for ninth at the Lady Puerto Rico Classic.

Marta Silva Zamora carded Georgia's low loop, a 4-over 76. The Bulldogs also counted a pair of 77 from Emilie Burger and Tess Fordham and a 78 by Abby Johnson. Milena Savich, who is competing as an individual shot, 79, and Amelia Hill shot 80, Georgia's dropped score.

"It wasn't pretty," head coach Kelley Hester said. "It was very mediocre. We looked very rusty. We looked like we hadn't competed for three months and we hadn't. Hopefully, we'll play much better tomorrow."

Silva Zamora was hovering around the top-10 on the individual leaderboard before finishing her day by going double-bogey, bogey. She is tied for 25th. In addition, Burger and Fordham are tied for 31st, Johnson is tied for 42nd, Savich is tied for 55th and Hill is tied for 77th.

Alabama's Camilla Lennarth shot 2-under 70 to grab a one-shot lead over the trio of Texas Tech's Gabriella Dominguez, Alabama's Jennifer Kirby and Florida State's Maria Salinas.

Top-ranked Alabama was the only team to break 300 on Sunday, posting a 2-under 286. That supplied the Crimson Tide with a 14-shot lead over the field, with No. 6 Purdue and Iowa State tied for second at 300.

Rounding out the top-10 teams are Florida State and TCU at 303, SMU at 305, Kent State at 306, Northwestern at 307 and the Bulldogs and No. 17 Oklahoma, which is coached by former Georgia assistant Véronique Drouin, at 308.

Play continues through Tuesday. Monday's round will begin with an 8 a.m. shotgun start, and live scoring will be available on the internet via www.golfstat.com.
