ATHENS, Ga. ---- Junior midfielder Laura Eddy has made a significant impact on the Georgia soccer team's success throughout her career. Having started in 40 out of 42 games over the 2009 and 2010 seasons, she scored three career goals and three assists. For her accomplishments, she was named 2009 SEC Freshman of the Year and chosen as a member of the 2010 SEC All-Tournament team. After suffering a season-ending knee injury at the beginning of the 2011 season, Eddy required ACL surgery and has had to help her team through her leadership and support from off the field. She opens up about how the Bulldogs can make it to the NCAA Tournament and her determination to come back in 2012 better than ever in this edition of Georgia Soccer Q&A.

Q: If you weren't playing soccer, what other sport would you want to play?

A: I would swim. I swam until eighth grade when I had to choose between soccer and swimming. I was a freestyle/IMer.

Q: What's your favorite part about playing soccer?

A: I just love the creativity that comes along with being able to play soccer. It's like an art and you get to make it your own.

Q: Why did you choose to play for UGA?

A: There were so many factors that played into it. It was the great academics, good location, and a great reputation. Also, Georgia soccer was an up-and-coming program that I thought I could be a part of.

Q: What are your personal goals for this season?

A: My personal goals for the season would be rehabbing right now, but I'm looking forward to getting back into full playing and coming back better and stronger than I was before.

Q: Why did you start playing soccer?

A: I started playing when I was three. It was something my parents put me in. At 10, I started playing competitively and just fell in love.

Q: What's your favorite food?

A: Probably queso.

Q: What's your favorite movie?

A: Fight Club.

Q: What is something that people would be surprised to know about you?

A: People, if they don't know me, are always surprised to find out I have a twin brother and that I'm one of seven children.

Q: What are two words that you would use to describe yourself, on the field or off the field?

A: On the field…composed. And I would say I'm fairly easy-going.

Q: What does it mean to you to be a Georgia Bulldog?

A: It means being a part of a community and a family.
