Flippen Named Director Of Compliance

ATHENS, Ga. --- Steve Flippen has been named Director of Compliance for the UGA Athletic Association, Director of Athletics Greg McGarity announced on Friday.

Flippen, who served as a graduate assistant/intern for the UGA compliance office from 1999-2001, has more than a decade of experience at five different Division I schools.

Most recently, Flippen has served as Associate Director of Compliance at Georgia Tech. He came to Atlanta after more than six years at the University of Virginia, serving as Director of Compliance for two and a half years and as Assistant Athletic Director for Compliance for four years. From 2003-04, Flippen was Director of Compliance and Student-Athlete Services at Winthrop University. That followed a two-year stint as Compliance Coordinator at Northern Illinois University from 2001-03.

Flippen earned his bachelor's degree physical education and sports sciences with a specialization in Sports Administration from the University of North Carolina in 1998 and received his master's degree in Sports Management from Georgia in 2000.
