ATHENS, Ga. ---- Freshman midfielder Tori Cooper is one of the standout recruits from the 2011 freshman class for the Georgia soccer team. Her determination and hard work comes from her experience as a captain and MVP on her high school and club teams in Torrance, Calif. Cooper is making her mark on Georgia in her six games played this season, recording an assist to help defeat Georgia State and logging quality minutes since then. Cooper recently took some time to talk about her feelings about the 2011 season and some of her favorite things in this edition of Georgia Soccer Q&A.
Q: How do you feel about this season?
A: I'm really excited about this season. We have a really good team this year, a really good group of girls. We all have the same game plan.
Q: What do you think it's going to take to make it to the NCAA tournament?
A: It's going to take everyone staying on the same page and everyone just giving their all every game, playing like it's their last game and playing for November.
Q: If you weren't playing soccer, what other sport would you want to play?
A: Basketball or track.
Q: What's your favorite part about playing soccer?
A: My favorite part about playing soccer is just that rush you get when you're playing. Playing with you're team and that determination you bring to every game. You feel so good after. It's fun winning and I love seeing the ball in the back of the net.
Q: Why did you choose to play for UGA?
A: Everything about Georgia. I love the campus. I love the girls. They are all one of a kind; they're all sweet hearts. I love the atmosphere here and the support for the athletes is great.
Q: What are your personal goals for this season?
A: I want to play every minute like it's the last minute of the game and win SECs. I want to hopefully make it to the tournament and compete. I want to make people scared of the "G".
Q: Why did you start playing soccer?
A: My brother played soccer and I went to all of his soccer games. I wanted to be just like him.
Q: What's your favorite food?
A: I would say mango.
Q: What's your favorite movie?
A: Stepbrothers.
Q: What is something that people would be surprised to know about you?
A: I really like painting and photography.
Q: What are two words that you would use to describe yourself, on the field or off the field?
A: I would say on the field, it would be hard working. I feel like I bring emotion and heart to the game; willing to do anything. Off the field, I would say comical.
Q: What does it mean to you to be a Georgia Bulldog?
A: You wear that "G" like you would wear a gold medal. It's something that I take a lot of pride in. I cherish it a lot and it's a big deal to me.
Tori Cooper is a freshman midfielder for Georgia Soccer. She and the Bulldogs will host Mississippi State and Ole Miss this weekend at the UGA Soccer Stadium.
