DALLAS, Texas --- The Georgia swimming and diving teams enjoyed a successful day Saturday at SMU's Perkins Natatorium.

The second-ranked Lady Bulldogs defeated No. 8 Texas A&M 169-126 and No. 21 SMU 200-89. In the men's meet, the No. 11 Bulldogs topped the Mustangs 163-132.

"This is the time of year where we are coming out of the best training in the pool and the weight room," Georgia associate head coach Harvey Humphries said. "These were some of the best performances by both the men and the women at this particular time of year. We are looking forward to swimming Texas next week in our pool as their men and women are two of the best dual teams in the country. "

Wendy Trott was a double winner for the Lady Bulldogs as she claimed the 500 freestyle in 4:50.40 and the 1,000 freestyle in 9:56.59. Megan Romano took the 100 freestyle in 50.93 and Allison Schmitt won the 200 freestyle in 1:47.46. The 400 freestyle relay team of Romano, Chelsea Nauta, Shannon Vreeland and Schmitt had the meet's best time of 3:23.76.

Georgia swept the backstroke races with Lauren English winning the 100 in 55.08 and Kelsey Gaid winning the 200 in 1:57.57. Melanie Margalis stopped the clock in the 200 breaststroke in 2:14.88, while Morgan Scroggy took the 200 individual medley in 2:01.72.

Martin Kata won twice to help the Bulldogs in a win over the Mustangs. Kata won the 100 butterfly in 49.36 and the 200 individual medley in 1:51.43. Owen Blank also swept the 1-meter and 3-meter springboard with a score of 280.95 and 330.70, respectively.

Jameson Hill took first place in the 1,000 freestyle in 9:14.70. Todd McGraw claimed the 200 butterfly in 1:48.84 and Martin Grodzki won the 500 freestyle in 4:30.42. Matt Bartlett took the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:40.26 and Adam Parker clinched the 200 backstroke in 1:51.20. The 200 medley relay team of Bartlett, Kata, Mark Dylla and Michael Arnold also took first place in 1:31.50.

Georgia's squads will return to action next Saturday as the Lady Bulldogs host No. 3 Texas at 11 a.m. and the Bulldogs take on the No. 1 Longhorns at 2 p.m. Georgia's seniors will be recognized before each competition.
