KNOXVILLE, Tenn. --- Javier Garrapiz won the 100th singles match of his Georgia men's tennis career Saturday, then went on to win No. 101 later in the day to pace another solid Bulldog outing at the SEC Coaches Indoor Championships at the University of Tennessee's Goodfriend Tennis Center.

Garrapiz, seeded third for the tournament, reached the milestone with a quick 6-0, 6-2 win over Ole Miss' Adrian Forberg in this morning's Round of 32 and followed that with an even more impressive 6-2, 6-0 win over LSU's Neal Skupski on the strength of 12 straight games won.

"I didn't know about the [100th win] but I am just happy to be playing well right now," Garrapiz said. "I played the two singles earlier today and we just finished doubles, too. We're tired and it was a long day but now we're just ready for tomorrow. My singles match will be a tough one against [Alex Musialek] from Kentucky - he's a good player and I played him last year at this tournament."

With all seven singles players still alive on day two, Georgia advanced six of those out of the Round of 32. Behind Garrapiz, the Bulldogs also got straight-set victories from Sadio Doumbia, Hernus Pieters, Drake Bernstein, and Wil Spencer. The eight-seed Doumbia defeated Kentucky's Grant Roberts by a score of 7-5, 7-6. Pieters went 7-6, 6-2 over Florida's Billy Federhofer, while Bernstein defeated UK's Alberto Gonzalez by matching scores of 6-4, 6-4. Spencer was the last Bulldog to complete play in the second round, defeating Alabama's Ian Chadwell, 6-3, 6-2, while Taboada downed Ole Miss' Johan Backstrom in three sets, 4-6, 7-5, 6-2.

Freshman Campbell Johnson put up a fight against the overall No. 1 seed in Kentucky's Eric Quigley, but fell 6-4, 6-3 in the Round of 32. In consolation singles, Johnson then defeated Florida's Andrew Butz, 6-4, 6-4, to move on in the back draw.

Moving to the Round of 16, Georgia's six players led all teams. First off for the Bulldogs in that round was Doumbia, whose 6-2, 6-2 decision over Mississippi State's Artem Ilyushin staked his place in tomorrow's quarterfinal. Spencer defeated Kentucky's Anthony Rossi 7-5, 6-2, and Garrapiz's win over LSU's Neal Skupski put three Georgia players in the quarters, still the most of any of the eight teams in action.

In other R16 action, Pieters fell to Tennessee's fourth-seeded J.P. Smith, 6-3, 6-1, and Bernstein fell to UF's Sekou Bangoura, Jr., the five-seed, 3-6, 6-3, 6-1. Taboada dropped his match to Kentucky's Alex Musialek, the No. 7 seed, 6-3, 6-4.

On the doubles side, Georgia was looking at three pairings in tonight's quarterfinals. The team of Taboada and Doumbia went up 4-1 and cruised to an 8-2 victory over UK's Hirooka and Roberts to climb into tomorrow's semifinal round. Garrapiz and Pieters then hung on for a 9-8(3) decision over Tennessee's Tennys Sandgren and Matteo Fago in the final match of the day. After going up 4-2, Bernstein and Spencer were bested by the Vols' Smith and Boris Conkic, 8-4.

Incidentally, the two Georgia teams left standing in the semifinals will square off against each other tomorrow.

In consolation doubles, the team of Johnson and Garrett Brasseaux fell to the Gators' Federhofer and Butz, 8-5.

"This was a long day but a very successful one," said head coach Manuel Diaz. "We just finished with a great doubles match by Javi and Hernus, who played a really close tiebreaker and both played very well. Our boys showed a lot today, really showed a lot of tenacity. We are proud to say we have two teams in the doubles semis and three in singles, and I'm just proud of the way we're competing right now. We can still get better, but I just like our hunger on the court and we will be ready to go tomorrow. We're sore, to say the least, but that's what this event is for - to toughen up and show our potential."

Singles action resumes Sunday morning beginning at 10:30 a.m. The doubles is listed to begin not before 5:30 p.m. Keep up with the action on the Tennessee live blog and Twitter page. Check back to Georgiadogs.com at the end of the day for a full recap and results. Action continues through Monday with a singles and doubles champion to be crowned.
