
Volleyball: Bulldogs Drop Three-Set Match At No. 19 LSU

BATON ROUGE, La. - The 19th-ranked LSU Tigers recorded a three-set victory over the University of Georgia volleyball team on Sunday afternoon at the Maravich Center.
LSU earned the victory with set scores of 25-20, 25-17 and 25-21, and with the win, the Tigers move to 11-0 on the year and 2-0 in Southeastern Conference action. Georgia drops to 8-5 overall and 0-2 in league play.
Offensively, the Tigers posted 47 kills on a .324 hitting percentage led by Angela Bensend's match-best 14 kills. Georgia countered with 36 kills on a .157 mark with a team-best 10 kills coming from redshirt freshman Kathleen Luft. Bulldog middle hitters Valentina Gonzalez and Ann Dylla added eight kills apiece.
On the defensive side of the net, LSU led with 10.0 blocks and 43 digs compared to UGA's 5.0 blocks and 40 digs. Georgia junior Carla Tietz recorded a match-best 12 digs.
Up next, Georgia returns to Athens for a four-match home stand at the Ramsey Student Center. The Bulldogs will play their first SEC home match against Tennessee on Friday, Sept. 24. The home stand then includes a tilt with Kentucky on Sunday, Sept. 26 and a match against Alabama on Friday, Oct. 1 before concluding with a contest versus Mississippi State on Sunday, Oct. 3, which will be televised on FSN. The UGA-MSU contest will be the first of five televised matches for Georgia this season.
