Gynmastics Endowment Fund (GEF) donors play a major role in the life of a gymnast here at the University of Georgia. Because of GEF donors, our Gymnasts not only get to compete at the country's premiere Gymnastics program, they get a first class education from a nationally ranked school. Contributions received through GEF fund the academic and athletic needs of our gymnastics team and have a direct impact on their experience and life while competing as a Gym Dawg.

Shayla Worley is one of the gymnasts who benefits from GEF. Shayla has not only excelled on the playing floor, but was named to the SEC freshman Honor Roll for her academic performance. In her career as a Gym Dawg, Shayla was named twice the SEC freshman of the week, scored a season-best 9.850 on vault vs. No. 10 LSU and won the title for all-around with a 39.500 including season-high scores on beam (9.925) and floor (9.950).

Our Assistant Director of Development, Patrick Gray, sat down with Shayla to talk about some of her favorite things, the 2011 season and what she wants to say to the GEF donors that enable her to be a Gym Dawg.
