Five Bulldogs Notch Wins At Tech Invitational

ATLANTA----- Five Georgia women's tennis student-athletes registered singles wins Friday in the first day of the Georgia Tech Invitational at the Bill Moore Tennis Center.
Georgia freshmen Lilly Kimbell, Maho Kowase, Alina Jerjomina and Rachael Hart along with senior Cameron Ellis picked up wins Friday. Hart was the lone Bulldog winner extended to three sets as she rallied past Stephanie Kent (Yale) in a tiebreaker in flight eight. Meanwhile in flight three, Yale sophomore Elizabeth Epstein upset Georgia's No. 31 ranked Nadja Gilchrist 6-3,4-6,7-5. Georgia freshman Alex Anghelescu fell short in her upset bid in flight one. Yale junior Vicky Brook, ranked No. 90, outlasted Anghelescu 6-3,6-7,6-2.
A three-day singles and doubles event, it features opponents from Yale, Oklahoma State and host Georgia Tech. The format is a round-robin flighted tournament.
Georgia has one doubles team nationally-ranked in the preseason. Gilchrist and Kowase are ranked No. 14 in doubles. Last week at the SEC Coaches Classic, Georgia used various combinations. The Gilchrist-Kowase tandem went 1-1.
Saturday's matches will get started at 10 a.m., while Sunday will kick off at 9 a.m.
