ATHENS, Ga. --- The Georgia soccer team jumped two more spots to a season-best No. 21 in the latest NSCAA/HendrickCars.com poll released Tuesday afternoon. The Bulldogs were No. 25 when they cracked the rankings two weeks ago, and came in at No. 23 last week.
The Bulldogs played perhaps their toughest weekend of the season this past Friday and Sunday, taking on a pair of top-10 opponents on the road in Palo Alto, Calf., as part of the Stanford Nike Invitational. The Bulldogs led No. 2 Stanford at halftime but dropped the 2-1 heartbreaker in overtime Friday. Georgia rallied with a 1-1 tie Sunday against No. 9 Santa Clara.
Defending champions North Carolina were again No. 1 this week as they remain undefeated at 6-0-1. The Cardinal came in at No. 2, followed by Portland, Boston College, and SEC rival Florida to complete the top-five.
South Carolina came in just ahead of the Bulldogs at No. 20 as the third SEC team in this week's poll.
Georgia returns to the UGA Soccer Stadium to begin a five-game homestand starting this Friday vs. the College of Charleston at 7 p.m.
