Ranked Foes Square Off:
No. 22 Georgia faced No. 24 South Carolina in the first meeting where both teams were ranked since 2003. Ranked No. 8 in that game, the Bulldogs knocked off No. 25 South Carolina 31-7 in Athens during that meeting. The last time these teams met in Columbia when both were ranked was in 1988. No. 14 South Carolina upset No. 6 Georgia 23-10 in that matchup. Today, South Carolina posted a 17-6 win, holding the Bulldogs to a pair of field goals. Before today, the last time Georgia failed to score a touchdown in a game was in 2007 against South Carolina, a 16-12 loss in Athens.

USC-UGA Series:
Georgia lost for the first time in Columbia under Mark Richt who was 4-0 here coming in today. USC has been Georgia's first SEC opponent since joining the league. The Bulldogs are 13-6 in these games and 7-3 under Richt. Overall, Georgia leads the series 46-15-2. Today, USC freshman RB Marcus Lattimore (37 rushes, 182 yards, 2 TDs) had the most carries by an opponent since 2005 when Auburn's Kenny Irons had 37 carries for 179 yards and 2 TDs in a 31-30 win in Athens.

Houston's Sack Attack:
Junior OLB Justin Houston finished with three sacks against the Gamecocks. This was the most sacks by a Bulldog since Marcus Howard registered three against Hawaii in the 2008 Sugar Bowl where he earned MVP honors. Houston finished with a career-high 10 tackles and a forced fumble today.

Walsh Connects For Two More:
Junior PK Blair Walsh connected on a 27-yard field goal in the opening quarter and then a 26 yarder in the third period. Walsh is now 4-for-4 on the season and is now 39-for-49 in his career. He is 12-for-14 from 20 to 29 yards in his career, including 6-for-6 in the last two seasons.

First Defensive Penalty:
Georgia had offsides called on its defense midway through the third quarter and it resulted in a first down. This was the Bulldogs' first defensive penalty of the season. Two plays later, Georgia forced a fumble. Junior OLB Justin Houston sacked QB Stephen Garcia and forced a fumble on the GA28 that was recovered by Bulldog ILB Christian Robinson. In 2009, opponents had 18 fumbles and Georgia recovered just two.

Points Off Turnovers:
The Bulldogs turned Robinson's recovered fumble into no points after a Washaun Ealey fumble on the SC4. Georgia has now converted four turnovers (3 INTs, 1 fumble) into 14 points while its opponents have turned one INT and one fumble into 7 points.

We Are Family:
Freshmen twins Alec Ogletree and Alexander Ogletree became the first brothers at Georgia to play together in the same game since 1999. Against South Carolina, they took the field on special teams. Alec is a 6-3, 224-pound strong safety while Alexander is a 5-10, 207-pound fullback. Before the Ogletrees, Dustin and Miles Luckie in 1999 were the last siblings to play for Georgia in the same game. That year, Miles started all 11 games at center while Dustin started in seven games at end. Dustin and Miles were part of triplets that played for Georgia in the late 1990s.

In Honor Of 'Q':
Senior ILB Akeem Dent wore #31, rather than his regular #51, in honor of senior safety Quintin Banks. Banks was forced to retire this preseason because of re-occurring knee injuries. He is now a student coach. A different Bulldog will where #31 each game this season.

Bulldog Captains:
Senior FB Shaun Chapas, Dent, junior OLB Justin Houston and sophomore FS Shawn Williams were the captains versus the Gamecocks.

Injury Report:
Senior FB Shaun Chapas left the game in the second quarter with a left ankle injury and did not return.

Next Week's Opponent:
Georgia (1-1, 0-1 SEC) returns home to face Arkansas (1-0, 0-0 SEC) on Saturday, Sept. 18. The Bulldogs won a 52-41 shootout over the Razorbacks in Fayetteville last season and lead the all-time series 9-3. Arkansas plays tonight versus Louisiana-Monroe.
