VESZPREM, Hungary --- Georgia sophomore Nikola Lomnicka recorded the longest hammer throw of her career to move up to the No. 2 spot on the Lady Bulldog all-time top-10 list during a recent meet in Veszprem, Hungary.
Lomnicka registered a throw measuring 219 feet, 6 inches on her opening attempt to take second at the 52nd Balaton Championship. This moved Lomnicka from the third to second on Georgia's all-time top-10 list as she passed Sultana Frizell (217-11, 2005).
Only 2008 Olympian and '08 NCAA champion Eva Orban topped Lomnicka after the former USC standout had a mark of 227-7.
Lomnicka won her first NCAA title in 2010, giving the Lady Bulldogs a national championship in the hammer three out of the last five years (Jenny Dahlgren, 2006-07). Lomnicka also captured a Southeastern Conference title in her first outdoor season with Georgia in 2010 after transferring from Clemson following her freshman season.
