Gym Dogs Move Up One Spot To No. 4

ATHENS, Ga. --- The Georgia gymnastics team moved up one spot to No. 4 in the latest GymInfo Top 25 released Monday. The Gym Dogs raised their RQS to a 196.690 with a 196.800 in the win over NC State on Sunday.
Alabama is No. 1 with a 197.155 followed by Oklahoma (196.935), UCLA (196.900), Georgia (196.690), Florida (196.685), Arkansas (196.510), Oregon State (196.460), Stanford (196.450), Utah (196.275) and Michigan (196.215) to round out the top 10. Georgia’s No. 4 ranking is its highest since being ranked No. 1 in the preseason.
In the team event rankings, Georgia is 12th on vault (49.185), third on bars (49.245), second on beam (49.230) and tied for sixth on floor (49.195).
Individually, three Gym Dogs are ranked in the top 20 nationally in four events: Courtney McCool is tied for third on floor (9.920), tied for eighth on beam (9.885) and 17th on bars (9.870), Grace Taylor is tied for fourth on beam (9.910), and Kat Ding is tied for fifth on bars (9.900) and tied for 13th on vault (9.895).
McCool has 12 event titles this season including seven on floor exercise. Ding competed in her first career all-around Friday at Michigan, then claimed the vault and bars titles Sunday against NC State, bringing her season total to 10.
Georgia will enjoy its first off week next weekend before the SEC Championship March 27 in Jacksonville, Fla. The Gym Dogs will be aiming for their 17th SEC title.
