PALO ALTO, Calif. --- The No. 7-ranked Georgia women's golf team climbed five spots to sixth in the final standings of the PAC 10-SEC Challenge. The Bulldogs shot 296 in Sunday's final round at the Stanford Golf Course. Though that was Georgia's highest tally of the weekend, it was posted under extremely rainy conditions.

"We moved up several spots, which is very positive," head coach Kelley Hester said. "It rained all day. It was cold. We had a very long rain delay and, in fact, they came close to canceling the rest of the tournament.

"I'm very proud of them," Hester continued. "With the conditions, we could've just packed it in. This weekend was a good maturation process for a young team with no seniors. We started slow yesterday but held it together and rallied late. Today, the conditions could've made us fold but we fought through it."

Emilie Burger shot 2-under 69 to pace Georgia, which also counted a 72 by Marta Silva Zamora, a 77 by Milena Savich and a 78, the score posted by both Amelia Hill and Abby Johnson.

"Emilie's round was tremendous considering the conditions," Hester said. "Marta played very solid again. I was very proud of Milena, Amelia and Abby. Milena started with a quad, was 6-over through four and finished at 6-over. Abby started double, double but battled all day."

No. 5 UCLA completed its wire-to-wire team win, finishing at 856 to earn an 11-shot gap over No. 3 Alabama. Rounding out the top-10 teams were No. 2 Southern Cal at 875, No. 13 Arizona at 877, Auburn at 879, the Bulldogs and Stanford at 882, No. 21 Tennessee at 886 and No. 4 Cal and Washington at 890.

Southern Cal's Sophia Popov closed with a 4-under 67 and captured medalist honors by a single stroke over UCLA's Stephanie Kono.

For Georgia, Silva Zamora finished fourth at 2-under 211, Burger tied for 18th at 219, Johnson tied for 38th at 225, Hill tied for 63rd at 230 and Savich tied for 89th at 236.

The Bulldogs completed the four-tournament fall portion of its 2010-11 slate at Stanford. Georgia's first spring event is the Lady Puerto Rico Classic on Feb. 13-15.
