ATHENS-----The Georgia men's tennis team won 14 of 17 matches on the second day of the Bulldog Scramble Saturday at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex.

Georgia's No. 14 Javier Garrapiz, No. 76 Drake Bernstein, Ignacio Taboada and Sadio Doumbia remained perfect for the tournament with two more singles wins apiece. Freshman Campbell Johnson also had a pair of wins for the Bulldogs.

Garrapiz recorded wins against Georgia Tech's Miguel Muguruza and Magin Ortiga, Bernstein topped the Yellow Jackets' Eliot Potin and North Carolina's Zach Hunter, Taboada beat Victor Valente of Georgia State and Georgia Tech's Dean O'Brien, while Johnson downed Tech's Ryan Smith and Thomas Cook of Georgia State.

The Bulldogs were a perfect 4-0 in doubles matches as the teams of Garrapiz and Hernus Pieters, Doumbia and Taboada, and Bernstein and Johnson won matches against Georgia Tech. Will Oliver and Garrett Brasseaux finished off the doubles round with a win over Georgia State's Victor Valente and Thomas Cook.

"We had another good day today," said Georgia associate head coach Will Glenn. "Javi won a big match at the end against a good player from Georgia Tech. He showed great leadership out there and closed it the right way. Ignacio continues to come along and gain confidence and he is playing very well. Drake Bernstein, another senior, is back on track to playing the way he is capable. Campbell had two big wins today, and it's good to see him going in the right direction again."

At the ITA National Indoor Championships in Flushing, N.Y., Bulldog junior Wil Spencer dropped a match to Illinois' Dennis Nevolo, 6-4, 1-6, 6-4, in the consolation quarterfinals.

The Bulldog Scramble will conclude Sunday at 9 a.m. at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex. This marks the final action of the fall for Georgia.
