Overtime: For the first time in the UGA-UF series history, the game was decided in overtime. Today, Florida won 34-31. Georgia (4-5, 3-4 SEC) got the ball first and its possession ended with an interception while the Gators kicked a 37-yard field goal. Georgia is now 4-3 all-time in overtime including 2-2 in the SEC. Before today, the last OT game for the Bulldogs was a 26-23 win over Alabama in Tuscaloosa in 2007. Coach Richt is now 2-1 in overtime games.
Murray Goes Deep And Posts Career High in Passing: Redshirt freshman QB Aaron Murray (18-for-37, 313 yards, 3 INT, 3 TD) hit redshirt sophomore SE Tavarres King for a career-long 63-yard touchdown down the middle of the field early in the second quarter. This was also a career long for King, who now has three TD catches on the year. King also had a 30-yard catch in the third quarter.
King and Charles Go Over 100 Receiving, Boykin on KOR: For the first time since 2005, Georgia had a pair of receivers go over 100 yards in the same game as split end Tavarres King (104 on 3 rec.) and tight end Orson Charles (108 on 6 rec.) did it. Prior to today, the last time it happened was against Auburn when split end Mohamed Massaquoi (108) and tight end Leonard Pope (102) did it. Junior A.J. Green finished the day with four catches for 42 yards and 1 TD. Junior KOR Brandon Boykin had four returns for 111 yards and moved closer to the all-time Bulldog career KOR record with 1,616 yards on 60 ret.. The mark is held by Gene Washington who tallied 1,637 from 1973-76 on 71 ret.
Ealey Scores Sixth TD In Last Two Games: Sophomore TB Washaun Ealey (overall 37 yards, 11 carries) scampered in for a 4-yard touchdown on the first play of the fourth quarter. The Bulldogs went for a two-point conversion on the score and failed, making them 0-for-2 on the year. Ealey has scored six touchdowns in two games after exploding for five at Kentucky on Oct. 23. He has scored a team-leading eight rushing touchdowns this season.
Walsh Keeps Streak Going: Junior PK Blair Walsh hit a 28-yard field goal late in the third quarter. He has now kicked at least one FG in 17 straight and in 31 games overall. He is 15-of-18 on the year and 50-of-63 in his career.
Turnovers: Georgia turned the ball over three times in the first half while Florida had a single turnover. All three of the Bulldog turnovers came in their own territory and resulted in 14 Gator points. Murray threw his fourth interception of the season (first in four games) on the first play of the game at the GA 29. However, the Bulldog defense held the Gators to four yards on six plays before Florida missed a field goal. Murray fumbled in the second quarter at the GA 29 and Florida was able to score a touchdown off of the turnover. Murray's second INT of the game came at the 3:45 mark in the second quarter after the ball went off the hands of junior TE Aron White at the GA 41. The Gators answered by scoring a TD two plays later. Sophomore CB Branden Smith registered his first career INT midway through the opening quarter. Smith was playing in his first game after missing three games with concussion symptoms. The Bulldogs were unable to score following the turnover. Georgia has forced 16 turnovers and converted them into 52 points while its opponents have scored 21 points off 11 Bulldog miscues on the year. During the Bulldogs' three-game win streak, Georgia scored 38 points off nine turnovers while opponents scored no points off of one turnover.
Houston Extends Sack Lead: Junior OLB Justin Houston had two tackles, including 1.5 tackles for loss and 0.5 sacks in the first half. Houston leads the SEC with 9.0 sacks. Also of note, junior CB Brandon Boykin recorded his first career sack early in the third quarter. Today, Bacarri Rambo had a career-high 13 tackles including 9 solo stops.
In Honor Of 'Q': Senior DE DeMarcus Dobbs wore #31, rather than his regular #58, in honor of senior safety Quintin Banks. Banks was forced to retire this preseason because of re-occurring knee injuries. He is now a student coach. A different Bulldog senior will wear #31 each game this season.
Bulldog Captains: Senior OT Clint Boling, senior FB Shaun Chapas, senior DE DeMarcus Dobbs and senior OLB Akeem Dent were the captains versus the Gators.
Back To Action: Sophomore CB Branden Smith returned to the lineup after missing the last three games after suffering a concussion. Smith had an interception on the first half. Junior SS Nick Williams also returned to action after missing the last two games with a hamstring injury.
Next Week's Opponent: Georgia (4-5, 3-4 SEC) returns to Athens to face Idaho State (1-7, 0-6 Big Sky) on Nov. 6 at 12:30 p.m. The game will be televised by the WSB. The Bulldogs have never faced the Bengals. Idaho State fell to Montana State today.
