Harman, Mitchell Help Team USA Win Walker Cup

ARDMORE, Pa. --- Aided by former Georgia All-Americans Brian Harman and Adam Mitchell, the United States won its third straight Walker Cup competition against Great Britain and Ireland this past weekend.
Team USA posted a 16.5-9.5 victory at Merion's East Course. The U.S. team’s margin of victory was the largest since an 18-6 win in 1997 at Quaker Ridge Golf Club in Scarsdale, N.Y. The Americans lead the series 34-7-1.
Harman and Mitchell teamed up for 3&2 victory over Gavin Dear and Matt Haines. The ex-Bulldogs were 3-down after the first three holes before mounting a comeback. Harman and Morgan Hoffman also posted a 2&1 win over Wallace Booth and Sam Hutsby, while Mitchell and Cameron Tringale dropped a 3&1 decision to Stiggy Hodgson and Niall Kearney. Harman halved a singles match with Dear and dropped a 3&2 decision to Dear, while Mitchell fell to Hutsby 1-up.
Harman finished his Walker Cup career with a record of 4-1-2 as he also competed in 2005.
The U.S. team will go for a fourth straight title in 2011 at Balgownie Links at Royal Aberdeen Golf Club in Scotland.
