Georgia Gymnastics Announces 2010 Schedule

ATHENS, Ga. --- The five-time defending national champion Georgia gymnastics team will face seven teams that competed in the 2009 NCAA Championships, including four at home as its 2010 schedule was announced Monday.
“The home schedule sets up pretty well for us this year,” first year head coach Jay Clark said. “We have two meets on Saturday afternoon, which our fans enjoy a lot. A lot of our historical SEC rivalries are on the road this year, but Super Six teams Arkansas and LSU are coming in to Athens as well as UCLA and Stanford, which are perennial powers on the west coast. It’s a good schedule for us.”
The Gym Dogs open the season at home against Stanford on Jan. 9 before hitting the road for three straight meets at Alabama (Jan. 15), Utah (Jan. 22) and Auburn (Jan. 29).
Georgia then plays host to four of its next five meets starting with Kentucky on Feb. 5 and Arkansas on Feb. 12. After a trip to Florida on Feb. 19, the Gym Dogs return home to face LSU on Feb. 26 and UCLA on March 6.
The Gym Dogs then travel to Michigan on March 12 before closing out the regular season in Athens two days later against N.C. State on Senior Night March 14.
The SEC Championships will be held in Jacksonville, Fla., on March 27 prior to NCAA Regionals on campus sites April 10. Gainesville, Fla., will be the site of the NCAA Championships April 22-24.
The Gym Dogs will be aiming for their sixth straight NCAA title and 11th overall.
