Georgia Men's Tennis Announces 2009-10 Schedule

"We have a great schedule highlighted by the NCAA Championships in Athens," Georgia coach Manuel Diaz said. "We have a terrific non-conference schedule including matches against two of the nation's top teams in Southern Cal and Ohio State. It will be a great challenge for our guys and these are the challenges we need to become the team we want to be."
The Bulldogs play six fall tournaments including three in Athens starting with America's oldest fall college tennis event, the Southern Intercollegiates, Sept. 17-21. Following the Georgia Tech Invitational and the All-America Championships in Tulsa, Okla., the Bulldogs return home for the Bulldog Scramble Oct. 9-11 and the ITA Regionals Oct. 22-25. The final event of the fall is the ITA National Indoor Tournament in New Haven, Conn., Nov. 5-8.
After a two-month break, Georgia returns to action at the SEC Indoor Tournament held in Atlanta Jan. 15-18. The first dual match is slated for Jan. 24 against South Carolina-Upstate in Athens followed by the ITA kickoff against Northwestern Jan. 31. North Carolina and Miami will also play in the ITA Kickoff in Athens.
The Bulldogs play host to Georgia Tech on Feb. 7 before the ITA National Team Indoor Tournament in Charlottesville, Va., Feb. 12-15. East Tennessee State and Furman visit the Dan Magill Tennis Complex Feb. 27 and March 1, respectively.
Georgia opens SEC play on the road at Alabama on March 5 and Auburn on March 7 before opening a six-match homestand against William & Mary (March 10), Kentucky (March 12), Vanderbilt (March 14), Southern Cal (March 19), Arkansas (March 21) and Ohio State (March 25).
After a match against LSU (March 28) and home contests against Mississippi State (April 2) and Ole Miss (April 4), the Bulldogs end the regular season with three straight road matches at South Carolina (April 9), Florida (April 11) and Tennessee (April 17).
The SEC Tournament will be held in Starkville, Miss., April 22-25, prior to NCAA Regionals May 15-16.
