ATHENS, Ga. --- The ultra-successful University of Georgia tennis teams will learn Tuesday at 5:20 p.m.  ET if they will be playing host to first and second round action in this year’s NCAA Championships.

The NCAA Championships field of 64 will be announced along with the 16 host sites for first and second round action on ESPNews (DirecTV channel 207/DishNetwork channel 142).

Also, the team brackets will be posted on the NCAA web sites (www.NCAA.com and www.NCAA.org) shortly after the completion of the televised announcement. The list of individuals selected to the NCAA singles and doubles championships will be posted on both web sites by 6 p.m. ET Wednesday.

Currently, the Georgia women’s tennis team, under the direction of Jeff Wallace, is ranked third nationally with a 23-2 record. They won the 2009 Southeastern Conference title, and this past Sunday, they added their third straight SEC Tournament title.

Fans can watch highlights of the Bulldogs run to their latest titles as part of the SEC Championships television special on SEC-TV (Fox SportSouth) this Thursday at 6:30 p.m. ET.

By winning the SEC Tournament, Georgia earned an automatic bid to the NCAA Championships. Georgia will be making its 22nd all-time NCAA appearance. They won the national title in 1994 and 2000.

Meanwhile, the Georgia men’s tennis team, led by coach Manuel Diaz, is ranked fourth nationally with a 22-3 record. They won the SEC Eastern Division this season and reached the semifinals of the SEC Tournament. The Bulldogs are the two-time defending NCAA Champions. They will be making their 31st overall appearance and looking to capture their seventh NCAA title. Georgia has reached the finals the past three years and claimed the title in 2007 and 2008. The Bulldogs have won 60 consecutive home matches at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex.

NCAA first and second round team matches will be May 8-10 at campuses around the country. The 16 first- and second-round winners advance to Texas A&M University to compete for the national championship along with the individual singles and doubles competitors.
