Are The Gym Dogs Limited To Activities Around Campus?

February 16, 2009 | Gymnastics

Peggy from Americus,GA asks...

Are the Gym Dogs limited to activities they can do around campus concerning social events? Do they have special curfews and things like that?

Dear Peggy:

No, the girls on our team are not limited in terms of the activities which they do or where they go. We do not have any curfew and have never had one. We teach responsible decision making and accountability. We do not believe that an entire team needs rules due to the bad decisions of a few so if we have an athlete who does not make good decisions, then we deal with that one athlete individually. We have not had the need for curfews. The team monitors itself.

This fall when one freshman was spending too much time off campus during the week, the team handled it with her directly. We are fortunate; our team is very committed to reaching their academic and athletic potential so they know that their social life has to come third.

Thanks for your question.
