Thompkins was second on the team in points, averaging 12.6 points per game, and was first in rebounding, averaging 7.4 rebounds per game. He also led the Bulldogs in blocks with 31 for the season.

Not only was he a top player for the team, he was one of the top freshmen in the SEC. Thompkins was third in scoring and second in rebounding among the other freshmen in the SEC.

Thompkins played on the U19 U.S. team this past summer, which played in Auckland, New Zealand. Thompkins was second on the team in scoring at 10.6 points a game. Playing for the U19 U.S. team provided great experience for Thompkins for the upcoming season.
