ATHENS, Ga. --- The 2009 NCAA Champion Georgia gymnastics team was honored at halftime of the Georgia-LSU football game at Sanford Stadium last weekend.
The Gym Dogs captured their fifth straight NCAA title in April and the program's 10th overall to become the first team to reach double figures. Georgia claimed the title with a 197.825 in the Super Six, its second-best score of the year.
Former Gym Dog Courtney Kupets was also honored for being the 2009 winner of the Honda-Broderick Cup, which designated her as the College Woman Athlete of the Year. She was also recognized with other UGA student-athletes as a 2009 NCAA Individual National Champion. She won the bars, beam and floor titles, giving her nine in her career.
The 2010 Gym Dogs return 10 letterwinners from the 2009 team including six gymnasts who have won a total of 14 All-America honors during their Georgia careers.
