Patterson Named Primetime Performer Of The Week

October 21, 2009 | Soccer

ATHENS, Ga. ----- Senior All-American Carrie Patterson was named one of 18 CollegeSoccer360.com Primetime Performers of the Week, the organization announced Wednesday.

Patterson’s two-goal effort last Friday night vs. South Carolina lifted Georgia to a 2-1 win over the fifth-ranked and previously unbeaten Gamecocks at the UGA Soccer Stadium. Additionally, it marked the ninth multi-goal game of her career, moving her into first all-time at UGA in that category.

“I'm honored to be recognized, but my success comes from my teammates playing well around me,” Patterson said. “Our team has been working hard and playing well, which makes my job a lot easier.” Patterson is the all-time leading scorer in Bulldog history in career goals (41) and points (104). She is just one assist off tying the record in that category. Her 104 career points is good for first among active players in the SEC.

This marks the second honor of the season for Patterson, who was named the SEC’s Offensive Player of the Week Aug. 26 after a hat trick vs. Kennesaw State in the season-opener. Patterson was the only unanimous selection on the 2009 Preseason All-SEC squad.

“I’m very excited for Carrie to receive some individual recognition after the weekend against South Carolina and Florida, because she proved to everyone why she is an All-American," said head coach Patrick Baker. "Her two goals on Friday, especially the second, was based on the strengths of a talented forward. Even in a losing effort against Florida, I thought she was terrific and created numerous opportunities for herself and her teammates. Her great qualities continue to show through each game and her best performances this year are yet to come.”

Patterson and the No. 19 Bulldogs host Alabama tomorrow, Oct. 22, at 7 p.m.
