Gym Dogs Alumni Hold Tailgate
More than 100 Georgia gymnastics alumni gathered for a tailgate prior to the Georgia-LSU football game on Oct. 3. It was the first alumni tailgateThe Jan. 9 meet against Stanford, which is also the Gym Dogs' 2010 opener, has been designated as Alumni Day. The 2009 Gym Dogs received their national championship rings at halftime, and Courtney Kupets was honored as the 2009 Honda-Broderick Cup Winner and for being an individual national champion.
Clark Speaks To Athens Rotary Club
Georgia assistant coach Julie Clark spoke to approximately 150 members of the Athens Rotary Club at the Holiday Inn on Oct. 14. She gave the group an outlook on the 2010 squad and also spoke of the transition of new coaching positions in addition to the Gym Dogs' practices this fall. Clark was also there to promote season ticket sales and the Ten-0 Club, the official booster club of Georgia gymnastics.
Georgia Welcomes Four Freshmen
Georgia will have four freshmen in the fold for the 2010 season including Kati Breazeal, Noel Couch, Christa Tanella and Shayla Worley. Fans can catch a glimpse of the four freshmen and all the Gym Dogs as they practice each Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday at the Suzanne Yoculan Gymnastics Center. All practices are open to the public.
Kupets Honored In New York
Former Gym Dog Courtney Kupets was honored as the 2009 Sportswoman of the Year at the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel in New York Oct. 13. Head coach Jay Clark and former coach Suzanne Yoculan were on hand for the ceremonies. Others who were honored at the event hosted by the Women's Sports Foundation include Annika Sorenstam and Pat Summitt.
