Trey Thompkins

BB*F*#33

Freshman*6-9

Lithonia, GA

True freshman Howard (Trey) Thompkins led Georgia with 22 points including 18 in the first half as the Bulldogs cruised to a 98-68 win over North Carolina A&T at Stegeman Coliseum.

Thompkins also grabbed 12 rebounds to record his first career double-double. The freshman was 8-of-10 from the field including 5-of-6 from beyond the arc.

Head Coach Dennis Felton on Thompkins performance:

“We’ve been talking about (Thompkins) asserting himself and doing more to get the ball in his hands. He can score in the post with his back to the basket, he can obviously shoot the ball, and he also has plays tonight where he broke defenses down and made the next play for somebody else to score. Trey is coming along.”

Trey is a fourth-team Parade magazine All-American in 2008, when he led the Wesleyan School in Norcross, GA to the Georgia State class AA Title. He averaged 27.5 points and 14.7 rebounds for the Wolves.

He played his junior season at national powerhouse Oak Hill Acadamy in Mouth of Wilson, VA., where he averaged a team-best 15.8 points and 8.9 rebounds. In his one season at Oak Hill the Warriors went 40-1 and won the national prep-school championship.
