TOLEDO, Ohio The third-ranked Georgia men’s golf team is in fourth place after one round of the PING/Golfweek Preview.

On Sunday, the Bulldogs fired a 6-over-par 290 at the Inverness Club, the site of next spring’s NCAA Championship. Georgia is eight strokes behind Oklahoma State (282).

Senior Adam Mitchell and freshman Patrick Reed paced the Bulldogs in the first round, each firing a 1-over 72. They are in the group tied for 18th, six shots behind Jamie Lovemark of Southern California.

Junior Hudson Swafford and sophomore Russell Henley both signed for a 2-over 73 to stand 25th, while senior Brian Harman carded a 6-over 77 for 56th.

“It was a solid first day,” Georgia coach Chris Haack said. “Our guys managed the course pretty well. We are right in the thick of things, and that’s all you can ever ask for as a coach.”

The 54-hole tournament will continue on Monday and will conclude on Tuesday. Live scoring and tee times can be found at golfstat.com.
