August 6, 1992 - Former Georgia star Gwen Torrence won the 200-meter dash at the Olympic Games in Barcelona, Spain, for her first individual Olympic gold medal. Torrence also won a gold in the 400-meter relay and a silver in the 1,600-meter relay in Barcelona.

August 6, 2006 - Former Bulldog Trevor Snyder locked down the men's javelin championship and Kyle Helf placed in the top 10 in another pair of events.

Softball player Sarah Gordon and swimmer Sam Powe were named UGA's winners of the SEC Brad Davis Community Service Award.
