June 11, 2006 - Junior Jennifer Dahlgren, who owns the collegiate record in her event, wins a national title in the hammer throw with a toss 226 feet, 4 inches at the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Sacramento, Calif. In addition, senior Kierney Jackson tied for sixth in the pole vault to help her team finish in the top 10 for the third straight season and sophomore Martin Maric took sixth in the javelin on the men's side.

June 11, 2006 - Georgia head coach Wayne Norton, junior Jennifer Dahlgren and cross country coach and assistant track coach Dave Hartman each win an annual award from the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association. Norton is named the USTFCCCA's South Region Women's Coach of the Year, Dahlgren takes home the USTFCCCA's South Region Women's Field Athlete of the Year and Hartman is awarded the USTFCCCA's East Region Women's Distance Coach of the Year.
