Purks Named UGAA Employee of the Year

Christie Purks, Associate Director of Event Management, was named UGA Athletic Association’s Employee of the Year, in voting by all members of the UGAA staff. The award was presented at the Association’s annual Mission Renewal Day on Tuesday, April 1.
Purks, a 1994 UGA graduate, has served in her current position since 2001. She is also chair of the NCAA Women’s Gymnastics Committee and will direct the sport’s national championship meet at Stegeman Coliseum on April 24-26, 2008.
In addition, the Association presented the annual Bill Powell Award for outstanding service to Jo Reynolds, longtime game-day employee of the UGA Ticket Office. The award is named for former UGA Faculty Athletics Representative Dr. Bill Powell.
