Georgia Golfers Come In Third In Puerto Rico

RIO GRANDE, Puerto Rico - The No. 1-ranked Georgia men's golf team finished third on Sunday at the Puerto Rico Classic.

The Bulldogs closed with a 7-under-par 281 to wind up at 3-under 861 for the tournament. Alabama took top honors at 10-under 854.

Russell Henley paced the Bulldogs in the final round with a 5-under 67. Brian Harman added a 3-under 69, followed by Hudson Swafford at 2-under 70 and Harris English at 3-over 75. Michael Green had the Bulldogs' non-counting score of 4-over 76.

Swafford and Henley finished sixth in the individual race at 4-under 212, eight shots behind Alabama's Matthew Swan (204). Harman took 20th at 2-over 218, English was 25th at 3-over 219 and Green was 74th at 21-over 237.

"I thought our guys closed very strong," said Georgia coach Chris Haack, whose team was ninth after the first round. "We can definitely build off our finish. The guys played with a lot of confidence and poise down the stretch, and this will help us down the road."

The Bulldogs will return to action next Friday through Sunday at the Southern Highlands Championship in Las Vegas.
