Six Current And Future Bulldogs Honored At NSCAA Convention

Bulldog All-Americans recognized at yearly coaches’ convention
WASHINGTON, D.C. The University of Georgia soccer team saw three current players and three members of its 2008 signing class recognized at the 2008 NSCAA convention in Baltimore earlier this year for earning various All-America awards. Georgia head coach Patrick Baker was also recognized for his South Region Coach of the Year award.
“The 2008 NSCAA All-American Banquet was a special day for our program,” said Georgia head coach Patrick Baker. “It was very gratifying to sit and see all these current and future Bulldogs being honored at the national level. We cannot wait to have everyone here in the fall and see what type of team we can become.”
The three current players honored for their awards were sophomore Carrie Patterson (Atlanta, Ga.), and freshmen Marah Falle (Lilburn, Ga.) and Alex Hooker (Littleton, Colo.). Patterson received her award for being named a second-team All-American. Falle and Hooker were recognized for their 2007 High School All-American awards, earned prior to their enrollment at UGA.
“Having Carrie recognized as our second All-American ever at the University of Georgia was very meaningful,” said Baker. “The high-level performances of Marah and Alex last spring for their respective high schools showed in their recognition as High School All-Americans.”
The three signees recognized at the convention, all of which will be attending UGA in the Fall of 2008, were Ashley Miller (Lake Mary, Fla.) Jamie Pollock (Powder Springs, Ga.), and Bailey Powell (Fayetteville, Ga.). Miller was named a 2007 High School All-American for her efforts during her junior year. Pollock and Powell were selected as 2007 Youth All-Americans for their accomplishments with their respective club teams.
“I was extremely excited to see half of our incoming recruiting class at the banquet as well,” said Baker. “To have three of our six 2008 signees honored, with Miller, Pollock and Powell receiving awards, really demonstrated our commitment to bringing in players of the highest quality.”
In addition to his selection as NSCAA South Region Coach of the Year, Baker was also named the SoccerBuzz Southeast Region Coach of the Year.
