Ian Burrell

Ian Burrell is a senior Criminal Justice major from Colorado Springs, Colorado. He is a member of the UGA cross country and indoor and outdoor track & field teams. He has been selected to the SEC Academic Honor Roll and the Dean's List on multiple occasions. He was named an Academic All-American by the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association on two occasions and was selected to the ESPN The Magazine's 2007 Academic All-District Second Team. He was honored at the Athletic Association's Director's Academic Roundtable, is a nominee
for the Athletic Association Dick Copas Leadership Award and is a recipient of the Ramsey Scholarship for Academic and Athletic Excellence.

Ian spent the summer of 2007 in a Spanish emersion school in Cusco, Peru. He lived with a Peruvian family as he improved his Spanish skills and learned the Peruvian culture.

 

BIOGRAPHY

2008: Indoor Recorded his second straight All-American certificate in the 5000-meter run after taking seventh (14:06.17) at the NCAA Championships...had a season-best time of 8:06.61 to finish fifth in the 3000 at the SEC Championships... joined three teammates in the distance medley relay to clock a school-record time of 9:48.42 and finish second at the conference meet, earning All-SEC Second Team honors...registered a provisional qualifying time of 13:50.40 in the 5000 to be the third collegiate finisher at the Tyson Invitational...won both the mile (4:08.94) and the 3000 (8:11.38) during his season debut at the Tom Jones Memorial Classic.
