ATHENS, Ga. --- The University of Georgia soccer team will open its spring exhibition season against NCAA Finalist Florida State, Saturday, Feb. 23, at 2 p.m. at the UGA Soccer Stadium. The Bulldogs will play a total of six spring games, all in Athens, and admission to all matches will be free of charge.

After opening the spring season against Florida State, Georgia will then take on Purdue Saturday, March 1, at 7 p.m. Following a three-week layoff from competition that will include Spring Break, the Bulldogs jump back into action with a pair of games on Saturday, March 29, as they take on Wake Forest at 10 a.m. and Tennessee at 6 p.m. UGA will also host a midday tilt between Wake Forest and Tennessee at 2 p.m. that same day.

Following the contest against the Vols, Georgia will return to the pitch Sunday, April 6, for a 1 p.m. match-up with in-state competitor Kennesaw State. Finally, Georgia will close out its spring exhibition season Friday, April 18, with a 7 p.m. match against Clemson.

In a continuing effort to ramp up the competition in preparation for the 2008 regular season in the fall, all six of Georgia’s collegiate spring opponents were participants in the 2007 NCAA Tournament.

Purdue was a No. 2 seed in the same region in which Georgia held the No. 3 seed. Florida State, which fell to Southern California in the national championship by a 2-0 score, and Tennessee, were also No. 3 seeds in their respective regions. Wake Forest entered the tournament as a No. 4 seed, while Clemson and Kennesaw State were unseeded participants. Tennessee reached the third round before falling to Portland, while Georgia, Purdue, Clemson and Wake Forest all reached the second round. Kennesaw State was knocked out in the first round by FSU.
