ATHENS, Ga. --- Six Georgia football players including Justin Anderson, Cordy Glenn, Ben Jones, A.J. Green, DeAngelo Tyson and Blair Walsh were named to the 2008 SEC All-Freshman Team, the conference office announced Thursday.  Georgia had more selections than any other league school.

Anderson, a redshirt freshman from Ocilla, Ga., appeared in 11 games making seven starts for the Bulldogs at right guard and right tackle while Glenn, a true freshman from Riverdale, Ga., appeared in 12 games including nine starts at right guard and left guard.  Jones, a true freshman offensive lineman from Centreville, Ala., made nine starts and appeared in 12 games, mostly at center. All three helped pave the way for 1,338 rushing yards by tailback Knowshon Moreno, tops in the conference.

Green, a true freshman from Summerville, S.C., leads the SEC with 951 yards receiving for an average of 79.2 yards per game. He has hauled in 55 passes including eight touchdowns and is looking to become the first Bulldog to lead the SEC in receiving since Brice Hunter in 1994.  He would be the first freshman to lead the league in receiving yards per game since 1999. He was voted SEC Freshman of the Year by the league’s coaches.

Tyson, a true freshman defensive tackle from Statesboro, Ga., has registered nine tackles in 12 games with five quarterback hurries. Walsh, a true freshman placekicker from Fort Lauderdale, Fla., has connected on 14-of-22 field goal attempts this season including a long of 52 yards against Georgia Southern. He has been perfect on all 47 PATs.

Green and Jones were two of four unanimous selections to the team.

No. 16 Georgia (9-3) will face 19th-ranked Michigan State (9-3) on Jan. 1, 2009, in the Capital One Bowl in Orlando, Fla.
