Georgia's McCool Sidelined By Left Foot Injury

ATHENS, Ga. Georgia gymnast Courtney McCool, the 2008 NCAA floor exercise champion, will be sidelined with a foot injury for at least the next eight weeks.
McCool, a junior from Lees Summit, Mo., has a stress fracture in the navicular bone of her left foot. She will be on crutches for the next eight weeks and will wear a walking boot. The injury will keep her from training on floor and beam, but she may be able to work on bars without the dismounts.
“We are all confident that Courtney will be able to return to floor and beam by mid-season,” Georgia coach Suzanne Yoculan said. “She is positive and focused on doing what it takes to heal.”
McCool will help Yoculan and volunteer assistant coach Julie Clark with coaching on floor and beam.
McCool became Georgia’s eighth NCAA champion on floor last season. She also won the NCAA Regional title on floor for the second straight year.
The Georgia gymnastics team will host its annual Sneak Peek on Sunday, Dec. 7, at 2:30 p.m. at Stegeman Coliseum. Admission is free.
