Arby's Student-Athlete Spotlight Of The Week: Lauren Groblewski

LAUREN GROBLEWSKI


Lauren Groblewski is a senior public relations and psychology major from Greenville, South Carolina. She is a member of the UGA swimming and diving team.

Lauren is a member of and officer in the UGA Student-Athlete Advisory Committee. Lauren is a recipient of the Ramsey Scholarship for Academic/Athletic Excellence. During her time at UGA, Lauren has been named to the SEC Academic Honor Roll three times, the Athletic Director’s Academic Honor Roll seven times and she has a 4.0 GPA. Following the 2005-06 academic year, Lauren was named to the CSCAA (College Swimming Coaches Association of America) Academic All-America Team.

She has assisted with raising funds for the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life through the swimming teams’ annual spaghetti supper.

BIOGRAPHY:

2007-2008 (Senior Season)
Named one of the recipients of the Ramsey Scholarships for Academic/Athletic Excellence.

2006-2007 (Junior Season)
At the SEC Championship, finished eighth in the 100 back and ninth in the 200 back.
Named to 2007 SEC Winter Academic Honor Roll.

2005-2006 (Sophomore Season)
Competed in the NCAA Championship, placing 27th in the 200 backstroke and 32nd in the 100 backstroke.
Qualified for the NCAAs by achieving personal best times in the 100 back (55.48) and 200 back (1:58.25) en route to helping the Lady Bulldogs capture the SEC Championship.
Named to the CSCAA Academic All-America Team.

2004-2005 (Freshman Season)
Posted season-best times in the 50 free, the 100 back and the 200 back at the Fall Invite.
Missed a majority of season due to illness.

High School
Graduated from J.L. Mann.
Was a two-time South Carolina state champion in the 100 backstroke and was also the high school record holder breaking a standard previously held by Olympian and All-American Lady Bulldog Courtney Shealy.
Earned a state title in the 200 individual medley and was a member of the winning 200 medley and 400 freestyle relays.
Helped lead J.L. Mann to the 2004 state team title.
Was a four-year letterwinner and was a three-time All-State selection.
Was a three-time Scholastic All-American.
Trained with Scott Bonine at Team Greenville.
