Bulldogs Conclude Georgia Invitational With Impressive Showing

ATHENS, Ga. --- The fifth-ranked Georgia women’s tennis team wrapped up an impressive showing at the Georgia Invitational with six more singles wins and three doubles victories at the Lindsey Hopkins Indoor Facility Sunday.
In doubles action, Georgia tandems completed a perfect weekend with a total of nine wins. The Bulldogs’ 36th-ranked duo of Monika Dancevic and Kelley Hyndman rallied from a 4-1 deficit to beat Mississippi State’s Annabelle Bares and Stephanie Vieria, 8-5. The 30th-ranked pair of Yvette Hyndman and Naoko Ueshima topped Radka Ferancova and Renee Joseph (MSU), 8-3, and Cameron Ellis and Adrienne Elsberry defeated Daniela Juskova and DeAndra Saddler (MSU), 8-3.
In singles play, Georgia’s 45th-ranked senior Kelley Hyndman earned a 6-2, 6-3 victory over Troy’s 65th-ranked Annabelle Bares, and Yvette Hyndman also notched her third singles win of the tournament, defeating Troy’s Mirte De Bakker, 6-3, 6-1. Dancevic cruised past Leonie Guijt (Troy), 6-2, 6-0, Ueshima beat Caroline Jounia (Troy), 6-1, 6-0, Ellis defeated Arres Marine (Troy), 6-1, 6-1, and Elsberry topped Stephanie Vieria (Troy), 6-1, 6-2.
“It was a great weekend of tennis for us and exactly what we needed,” Georgia head coach Jeff Wallace said. “We played a lot of matches. I was pleased with how everything went. We still need to work on a few things, and we’ll get ready for our dual match season.”
Georgia will play host to East Tennessee State in its first dual match of the season Friday at 5 p.m. at the Lindsey Hopkins Indoor Facility. The Bulldogs’ first three dual matches will all be played indoors.
