Georgia Volleyball Faces South Carolina Sunday

COLUMBIA, S.C. --- The Georgia volleyball team will continue its Southeastern Conference opening weekend road swing by taking on the South Carolina Gamecocks on Sunday at 1:30 p.m.

The Bulldogs (9-2, 0-1) opened SEC play Friday night in Gainesville, Fla., where they fell to the No. 6 Gators 3-1 (22-30, 30-24, 30-20, 30-16). UGA did take the first game of the match with UF, snapping a string of 15-consecutive games won by the Gators.

The Gamecocks (7-3, 0-1) played host to Auburn to open SEC play and fell to the Tigers 3-2 (30-27, 30-28, 18-30, 27-30 and 15-10).

Georgia leads the all-time series with South Carolina 36-13, but dropped both contests with Gamecocks last season by 3-0 scores. Prior to those two matches, the Bulldogs had won six straight in the series.

Junior outside hitter Maria Taylor is just one kill away from reaching a career milestone of 1,000 kills. After posting 822 kills as a freshman and sophomore, Taylor has 177 in 2007 putting her career total at 999.
