July 09, 2007 | Swimming & Diving

ATHENS, Ga. --- The Georgia women’s swimming and diving team has assembled the nation’s top-rated incoming freshman class, according to CollegeSwimming.com.

The Lady Bulldogs’ 2007-08 freshman class is made up of Kelsey Ditto (Austin, Texas), Chelsea Nauta (Tampa, Fla.), Morgan Scroggy (Aurora, Ore.), Courtney Monsees (San Jose, Cal.), Lauren English (Lincoln Park, N.J.), Colleen Haase (Rockville, Md.), Lauren Cartwright (Fayetteville, Ga.), Emily Montesinos (Riverdale, Ga.), Erin Dobek (Suwanee, Ga.) and Hannah Moore (Moultrie, Ga.). On CollegeSwimming.com announcing the No. 1 ranking, it reads, “These (student-athletes) will put Georgia back in the running for an NCAA trophy, and the sheer breadth of talent will give the Bulldogs the inside track to an SEC title.”

On the men’s side, Georgia’s class of Mark Dylla (Littleton, Colo.), Billy Cregar (Washington Township, N.J.), Martin Kata (Martinez, Ga.), Billy Fawcett (Atlanta), Richmond Green (Atlanta), Tim Barrett (Evans, Ga.) and Kevin Frankenfield (Austin, Texas) has been ranked No. 8 nationally by CollegeSwimming.com.

“It’s exciting that someone noticed that we signed two great recruiting classes,” Georgia head coach Jack Bauerle said. “I am excited about these groups as swimmers and divers, but also for the kind of young women and young men they are. These rankings don’t ensure instant success. They know they will have to come in and work hard to be as good or better than our other classes.”
