Caithness Drops Quarterfinal Match At British Amateur

Caithness reached the quarterfinals earlier in the day by completing a 2 and 1 victory over England’s Rachel Connor. Caithness owned a 1-up edge through 15 holes when play was suspended Friday evening due to threatening weather. She returned to the course an won No. 16 to extend her advantage and then ended the match by halving No. 17.
In the quarterfinals, Nordqvist, the No. 6 seed, built a 4-up lead at the turn by winning No. 2, No. 4, No. 8 and No. 9. Caithness bounced back to secure No. 10; however, Nordqvist regained her edge at No. 12. Caithness cut the lead and half by taking No. 14 and No. 15 before Nordqvist ended the match by winning No. 16 to extend her lead to 3-up with just two holes remaining.
Caithness has enjoyed a strong season in 2007. Last month, she was the youngest member of Great Britain’s team which won the five nation’s Commonwealth Tournament for the first time since 1991.
