April 05, 2007 | Track & Field
ATHENS, Ga. --- Georgia senior Krista Woodward, a three-time Southeastern Conference javelin champion, broke both the Canadian national record as well as the school record in her event at the Alabama Relays in Tuscaloosa, Ala., on March 25. The New Westminster, B.C., native launched a throw of 183 feet, 11 inches on her fifth attempt to top the former Lady Bulldog record, which was set by Vigdis Gudjonsdottir in 1999, by 1 foot, 8 inches.
Woodward, who has also claimed three All-American certificates while at Georgia, is currently No. 2 in the nation in the javelin thanks to her effort at the Alabama Relays. Woodward's record-breaking throw is documented on video, which can be viewed via the link above.
