Bulldogs Continue Spring Exhibitions In Knoxville
March 02, 2007 | Soccer
"We are excited to play two more quality opponents and hopefully improve on our play from Tallahassee," said Georgia head coach Patrick Baker. "The players have made some progress and look to have some better performances this weekend. This will be another great learning environment for our young team."
The Bulldogs opened up their spring season last weekend in Tallahassee, Fla. where Florida State handed Georgia a 3-0 loss. The game was played 10 vs. 10 on a full field because FSU could only produce 10 healthy players.
"We set up our spring schedule so that we would be challenged," said Baker. "What better way to challenge ourselves than to open up against a team that has been to two straight Final Fours and three of the last four? FSU has a great venue and some really good individual players. We certainly got a look at what we needed to work on individually and collectively. One thing that remains constant is that we are young. There were never less than eight freshman on the field at any given time and they were exposed to a higher level of play. They made some mistakes but also made some good things happen.
"The FSU game gave us a starting point," continued Baker. "We will take that game along with the two coming this weekend to continue the cycle of playing, watching video, critiquing our performance, improving ourselves in training and getting back out to play again."
Georgia's first home game during the spring exhibition season will be Saturday, March 31, as the Bulldogs host Armstrong Atlantic at 2 p.m. at the Turner Soccer Complex.
