ATHENS, Ga. --- Levi Stukes scored a team-high 21 points to lead Georgia past Mississippi State 86-73 Saturday afternoon at Stegeman Coliseum. The red and black Bulldogs improve to 17-10 on the season and 8-6 in the SEC, while the maroon Bulldogs drop to 16-11 overall and 7-7 in conference play.

“Levi played very well today,” said head coach Dennis Felton. “He finished with four assists and just one turnover. He shot 7-for-12, including 5-of-7 from three-point range. That’s an awfully good day.”

Brown scored six of the Bulldogs’ eight points in the opening minutes to give Georgia an 8-4 edge. Mississippi State kept it close until back-to-back Stukes’ three-pointers sent the red and black Bulldogs on a 16-6 run. Georgia would finish the game shooting 12-for-19 from beyond the arc.

Mississippi State cut the deficit to as little as six points, but would not come any closer for the half. Georgia’s largest lead of 14 came with 3:16 on the clock when Dave Bliss converted on a pair of shots from the charity stripe. The 14-point margin would remain intact as the buzzer sounded ending the half with Georgia up 47-33.

After a quick 8-0 run by the maroon Bulldogs to open the second, Georgia answered with consecutive threes from Stukes and Billy Humphrey. Mississippi State would, again, make a run at the lead closing the gap by as little as six points, but would fail to come any closer.
