December 8, 1996 - Kedra Holland-Corn's basket with 12 seconds left in overtime lifted the No. 5 Georgia women's basketball team past No. 4 Tennessee 94-93 in Knoxville.
December 8, 2004 - Georgia defensive end David Pollack becomes Georgia's first winner of the Rotary Lombardi Award given annually to the nation's top lineman.
December 8, 2008- Former University of Georgia Athletics Director/Coach and National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) Past President Vince Dooley named the recipient of the 2008 Selig Mentoring Award by the Division I-A Athletics Directors McLendon Scholarship Steering Committee. The award was established in 2007 and named in honor of Major League Baseball Commissioner Allan H. (Bud) Selig and is presented annually to a person in athletics administration who has been at the forefront in creating equal opportunities for minorities in the field of athletics.
