ATHENS, Ga. --- Michelle Morris, one of the nation’s top young riders in the English discipline, has signed a national letter-of-intent to attend the University of Georgia and ride for the Bulldog equestrian team, head coach Meghan Boenig announced on Wednesday.

Morris is a senior at La Canada High School in La Canada, California. She is currently ranked 31st in the Bates Saddles National Equitation rankings. Most recently, she finished sixth at the ASPCA Maclay finals in Syracuse last month. Competing in the Sport Horse Tournament, she placed sixth out of 155 riders.

“Michelle is a talented young lady who will be a great asset to our program,” Boenig said. “She is very excited about making the move to Athens, and we know how strong a competitor she will be for the Bulldogs.”

Morris has a slew of additional riding honors to her credit. She has competed the past four years in several U.S. Equestrian Federation shows and medal finals. And as a four-year letterwinner on La Canada’s equestrian team, she is also a Year-End Junior Hunter Champion in the Los Angeles Horse Shoe Association.
Morris is the fourth Hunt Seat specialist to join the Bulldogs for next year. Also signing with Georgia in the early signing period were Katie Brown of Batavia, Ill., Emma Lipman of Bedford, N.Y., and Katie Hagerty of Wakefield, R.I.
