Emily Lenke Signs With Georgia Softball

ATHENS, Ga. --- Emily Lenke, a pitcher/utility player from Alpharetta, Ga., has signed a national letter-of-intent to attend the University of Georgia and play softball for the Bulldogs, head coach Lu Harris-Champer announced on Wednesday.

Lenke, a two-time All-State selection at Milton High School, compiled a career earned run average of 0.68 with 710 strikeouts in 711 innings while also posting a batting average of .402. Lenke, who was named Milton's Most Valuable Player for both the 2006 and 2007 seasons, is a four-time All-Region team member and a four-time All-Atlanta Northside selection.
Additionally, she earned Palmer-Dodge Player of the Week and North Fulton Player of the Week honors throughout her career.

"Emily's intelligence and tenacity will facilitate her success as a Georgia Bulldog," Harris-Champer said. "She is crafty and competitive. Emily also can hit for average and play other defensive positions."

A travel ball member of the Atlanta Vipers Gold team, Lenke helped the squad to the ASA Gold Nationals in 2006 and 2007, the ASA Nationals in 2002 and
2005 and the USSSA Nationals in 2004, where the team finished second overall. She also played for the Wilson Team Select in 2007 in the 23U Canada Cup.

Lenke, who also has served as a team trainer and manager for Milton's wrestling team, is a four-year honor roll student and Scholar-Athlete award winner. She is a member of the Beta Club, a two-year member of the National Honors Spanish Society and is a Student Ambassador. In her freshman year, Lenke served as the class treasurer.
